RV Insurance

Recreational vehicles (RVs) make a great choice for frequent travelers, long trips and the ability to pull over when you need to sleep with no hotel required. Like other vehicles though, RVs require insurance. The state of New Jersey requires every vehicle to carry a minimum amount of insurance. If you own the following RV types, you may need a separate vehicular insurance policy:

  • a Class A, or large, motorhome
  • a Class B, or small, motorhome
  • a Class C, or mid-sized, motorhome
  • a converted bus RV

If you own the following types of RVs, which attach to your car or truck for towing, your auto insurance policy covers the RV:

  • an RV travel trailer attached by a trailer hitch to a vehicle for towing
  • a fifth wheel RV
  • a camper truck or van

New Jersey State RV Insurance Minimums

The state of New Jersey requires all vehicles driven on its roads to carry minimum insurance coverage of:

  • Property damage liability of $5,000 per accident which pays damages you incur on other's vehicles or property
  • Personal injury protection of $15,000 per person per accident which pays for your injuries in a vehicular accident
  • Severe injury protection of up to $250,000 which pays for permanent injuries such as brain damage
